Motor Cars: Cars and Lifestyles in Hong Kong in the Twentieth Century

Motor cars are symbols of modernity. Although Hong Kong has never been a place for automotive manufacturing, as early as the start of the Twentieth Century cars were already running around the city, with the first bus appearing in the 1920s. Since then, be it taking a public vehicle or driving a private car, this mode of transportation has basically become a part of the citizens’ daily life. Totrace its history in Hong Kong, this exhibition puts together archival images of automobile from collections public and private, at the same time digging deep into our imaginations of the society and people’s lifestyles of fore.
